Privacy policy

A short policy, because this is a content site that collects very little.

The short version

We do not ask you to create an account, we do not sell data, and the only personal information we ever hold is what you type into the contact form. The longer version below sets out the third parties involved, because they are the part that actually matters.

Information you give us

If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you submit. That reaches us as an email and is used only to reply to you and, where you have reported an error, to correct the site. It is not added to a mailing list, because we do not run one, and it is not shared with anyone else.

The form is protected against automated spam by a hidden field, a submission-timing check and a per-address rate limit. Those look at how a submission was made rather than who made it, and no third-party captcha service is used.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which links are used. It sets cookies and collects usage data including approximate location, device and browser type, and pages visited. We use it in aggregate; we do not attempt to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine it with anything from the contact form.

Google’s handling of that data is governed by its own policies. If you would rather not be measured, browser-level tracking protection and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on both work on this site, and nothing here stops working if you use them.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links are affiliate links. Clicking one takes you through a redirect on this domain and then to the retailer, which allows the retailer to attribute the visit to us. The retailer — currently Amazon — may set its own cookies at that point, under its own privacy policy rather than ours.

The redirect records nothing about you personally. We fire an analytics event recording that a link was clicked, on which page, for which product. How the affiliate relationship works.

Hosting and logs

The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes requests and keeps standard server logs including IP addresses for operational and security purposes. That is ordinary infrastructure logging rather than anything we query.

Cookies

The cookies set on this site come from Google Analytics and, after you click out, from the destination retailer. We set no advertising cookies of our own and run no ad network. Browser controls for blocking or clearing cookies work normally here.

Children

This site is intended for adults making a purchasing decision. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your rights and how to use them

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you. In practice the only such information we hold is contact-form correspondence. Email info@danderdown.com and we will deal with it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of the page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
